The Intelligent Medical Computing Laboratory (IMCL, also known as GEMLab) at Macao Polytechnic University is pleased to announce that Dr. Yue Sun has been awarded a 2026 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund (Category C) project.
Recognition for Early-Career Research
The NSFC recently announced the results of its 2026 centralized review period, covering General Program projects, Young Scientists Fund projects in Categories A, B, and C, the Research Fund for International Scientists, and other funding schemes. Dr. Sun’s successful award recognizes the laboratory’s sustained work and innovative momentum in medical artificial intelligence and intelligent health computing.
The NSFC is an important source of support for fundamental research and original innovation in China. Its Young Scientists Fund is designed to enable early-career researchers to pursue independent investigations into frontier scientific questions and to cultivate promising academic talent. The award affirms Dr. Sun’s research capability and direction, while providing valuable support for the laboratory’s future high-level basic research.
Advancing Intelligent Medicine
In recent years, IMCL has continued to develop research in medical image AI, contactless physiological-signal monitoring, multimodal medical-data analysis, and intelligent clinical decision-making.
